    Living in Skowhegan, Maine

Skowhegan is the county seat of Somerset County, about 20 minutes north of Waterville along the Kennebec River. It's the shopping and service center for much of the region, with a walkable downtown built around the river gorge and quick access to Route 201 heading north toward The Forks and Jackman.

Skowhegan is home to the Skowhegan State Fair, known as the oldest continuously running agricultural fair in the country, and a growing local food scene anchored by Maine Grains in the old county jail building. The Kennebec runs right through downtown, and community groups are working on a river park project to expand access to the gorge. Nearby Lake Wesserunsett and the surrounding countryside offer boating, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Homes in Skowhegan include older in-town houses and multi-family properties, farmhouses with land, newer ranches, and camps on nearby lakes. Students attend MSAD 54 schools, including Skowhegan Area High School. For buyers who want more land for their money, Skowhegan and the surrounding Somerset County towns are worth a close look.

Corey Lee works with buyers and sellers throughout Skowhegan and Somerset County, from in-town homes to farmland and camps. Call or text Corey at (207) 314-8443, or request a free home value report to see what your Skowhegan property is worth today.
